More cards made from that huge stack of designer papers

 I was in the mood to make a couple of cards this afternoon, but didn't want to think too much (hahaha).

So I based them on the MFT sketch, and used up some more of the paper stack I cut.   I've made 10 cards with this stack, so far, and used multiple pieces of paper on each, and you can't even notice I've used any from the piles.  Using these papers up is going to take quite a while, I guess.  

Since I am not enjoying this stack any more, while I still like the paper and the colors in it, I'm going to put it away for a while, and do something else.  At the moment, I'm thinking I should try to make some cards from it every month, and hopefully it will eventually be used up. 

 

 

 

 

Here's what I made this afternoon.  Just one card design, but made two cards.  I liked the results quite a bit.  Still need to put a sentiment on it, but am thinking I'm going to make up several different ones, and put one on the card when I need to.  

 

 

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge--Sketch 535

 I was sent an email about this challenge, and decided this would be a great idea to use of some of that tall stack of paper.  Here is a link to the challenge.

I followed the sketch, but very loosely.  I did a side fold card instead of a top fold to start with, and changed the proportions of the two stacked rectangles on the front.  I also did not have room next to the stacked rectangles for a sentiment, so will be adding one to the bottom right.

 

 

I thought this turned out pretty cute, so I made two of them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I then decided to change it up just a little, using the same components, but made the design up-side-down.  I think this came out pretty cute, too. On these, the sentiment will probably be on the top left, although I'm also considering across the top rectangle at a matching angle.

 I decided that, while I was using the same paper, I would change up the card design a little.  So I trimmed off  half an inch from top and sides, then cut it in half.  Matted the halves on cream card stock, and stuck them to the front of a card base made from red card stock. 

 

 

 I thought it turned out pretty well, and I made another one similar, but cut three-quarters of an inch from the sides.  I like how this came out much more.

The two of them side by side.  I like the one with more red in the middle much more than the other one, where I can now see the two halves don't match.  I believe I cut the mat on one a little wider on one half than on the other. Obviously, time to quit. I don't do good work when I'm tired.

 Well, I started to use the paper that was cut down from the 12 in x 12 in paper stack.  The first card was fairly simple.  I matted the piece with some red card stock, put it on the card base, and called it done.  I was pretty pleased with how it looked, the sun flowers really grab your attention!

 

 

 

I didn't put a sentiment on it, because I'm not sure if I want to use it for a thank you card, thinking  of you, or birthday card. But whichever I decide on, it will be stamped on white card stock with brown ink, and matted on red card stock.  I think that will stand out nicely on the card front. 

I actually made two of these as it was quick to make up into a card.  Always nice to have a few cards on hand, especially if you can use them for a variety of occasions!

Large tablet of designer paper

 Trying to organize my craft room, and ran across a large, thick tablet of designer paper.  The cover was missing, so I have no idea the brand or maker, but I decided to try something with this stack.  I'm not sure where I heard it, but someone suggested taking the 12 in.x12 in. paper stack and cutting it into 5.25 in.x4 in. pieces, that will fit on an A2 card front with a small border around.  These pieces could also be easily sub-cut down to smaller sizes.

 

 

 

After spending all my spare time for 4 days cutting this stack down to a more manageable size, I ended up with a lot of potential card fronts, and a sore arm from all the cutting.  

Here is my stack of card fronts.  It's hard to get the feel for how many there are in this stack.
