Creating with a color challenge

Alyse, Becky, and I, decided to use a color theme for our card making day this month.  The colors were light yellow, straw yellow, mustard yellow, deep orange and a deep red.  We were to use as many of these colors as we could as we made our cards.

I started off using my new Distress Oxide inks of Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, and Spiced Marmalade.  I stamped a couple of bowls, and a spoon, along with a dotted border from the My Favorite Things November 2016 Card Kit--Kitschy Kitchen.  When it arrived I put it away because of the holidays, and basically forgot about it.  When I found it again a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to use it as I really liked it.  I made a card and was fairly pleased with the layout, but for some reason it just didn't grab me.  After looking at it, and thinking about it, I decided it just wasn't bright enough for such a fun stamp set!

I redid the card, using the Catherine Pooler inks of Tiara, Orange Twist and Rockin' Red.  I used Momento Black for the sentiment, as I did in the first card. I deleted the spoon, and added an additional bowl.   I also added yellow card stock for the first layer.  This card I really liked!  It just pops, and the colors complement the fun bowls!

I also made coordinating envelopes.  I think they turned out pretty cute!

One more Easter Card

Made another Easter card, this one for my grandson.  I stamped the bunny and the sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp March 2017 Card Kit, with black Versafine Ink, then colored in the bunny with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  I stamped the hearts in Momento Pink and colored with the Zig markers.  I accented the front by adding a scalloped border in pink on the left side.  All in all, I think it turned out pretty cute.

A Little Pink Christmas

My Stamp of Approval box arrived a bit ago, and while I opened it and admired the contents, I was busy with other things and until today hadn't managed to make anything from it.




Using the label die to cut out a white label, which I inked with Angel Pink Momento along the edges.  Using the "Wishing you a", "Merry", and "Christmas" stamps, I stamped the label with Versamark ink, added Recollections Sparkle embossing powder, and heat set.  I did this twice, to make the sentiment really shine.

I stamped the card front with the Pink Angel Momento using the striped background stamp before attaching a 1 1/4 inch strip of silver glitter paper to the front.  The label was added with foam tape to add dimension.

I was pretty happy with how this turned out, even though it wasn't done in traditional Christmas colors. The picture doesn't do it justice, as it appears to have a yellowish tinge to it, and in real life it is white.

Stretch Your Stamps 2, Day 8

More great ways to use graphic stamps in today's lesson!  I really like Kelly's idea of using graphic stamps for a border, so combined that with Nichol's idea of a window card.  This is what I came up with--I used Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade and stamped my graphic rounded diamond on to a strip of white card stock, and also used the ink to color a strip of white card stock.  I then over-stamped the rounded diamond with a heart in Momento Tuxedo Black.

I die cut a window on a separate piece of white card stock a little narrower than the card front.  I attached the stamped strip to the left hand side of the card base, then centered my colored strip under the die cut window and attached the strip to the card front.  I stamped my sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black.  I then popped up the card stock with the window, and called it good--for now.

 

I think the front needs a little something more, but I'm not sure what.  Maybe a ribbon and bow?  Black or yellow?  Or maybe I should do some yellow and black spatters?  Or maybe stamp some of the hearts in yellow and black randomly on the card front?  Maybe I'll just leave it the way it is.  I'm going to spend a few days thinking about it before I make up my mind. 

Holiday Card Workshop, Day 3

I liked the concept of the card designed by Shari Carroll, but didn't have the supplies she used.  So I improvised a little.

Instead of using a die to round off the bottom of the overlay, I used a plate, pencil and scissors.  I also didn't have a dotted line stamp, so substituted another strip of designer paper.  I did have a dotted embossing folder, but decided to use it on only half the card front, leaving the other half of the front smooth for my stamp.  I popped the overlay, and also popped the stars, which doesn't really show in the photo, but I think it adds a little pizazz to the card in real life!

 

The designer paper is from DCWV Winter Wonder Stack, the green star paper and white background card stock is from Michael's, I think,  and the card base was Pure Luxury In the Navy from GinaK Designs.  

The stamp isn't marked, so I'm not sure where it's from, but it's stamped with Momento Paris Dusk.  The star punch is from Marvy Uchida.  The embossing folder is Dotted Swiss by Cuttlebug. 

The inside sentiment is from Stampabilities, and is also stamped with Momento Paris Dusk.
