Taking another class from Online Card Classes. I have learned something from every single class I've taken there, and I've taken a bunch!
This class, Clear and Sheer, shows different techniques for attaching and incorporating acetate and vellum in your cards.
This card is the first card I made from this class, although it is from Day 4. I used an embossing folder with my vellum, and got a really nice design. This is the second try, and my first try, while really cute, had several areas that cut all the way through the vellum.
I embossed my 4.5 inch by 5.5 inch piece of vellum with a Lifestyle Crafts GooseBumpz folder called Whimsy. After trimming off the edges I was left with a 4 inch by 5 inch piece of embossed vellum, which I cut in half lengthwise.
I took a 5.25 by 4 inch piece of yellow striped card stock, and added a 4 by 3.75 inch of designer paper on top, having the top edges even. I then folded over the top edge of the vellum and adhered it to the back (an idea from Day 1), leaving the bottom loose. I then stamped Smile on a scrap piece of white card stock, layered it on a scrap from the yellow striped, and adhered it to the front of the card with foam tape for some dimension.
When I find my scalloped border punch, I'm going to add a small light green border to the bottom of the red flowered paper to finish the card. Unfortunately, I am in the midst of rearranging my craft room (a several month long project), and currently can not find my border punches. (On the other hand, I have found several other tools that have gone missing over the last several years...and a few duplicates).
Posting cards I've made, and my attempts from the classes I've taken to improve my card-making skills. Some turn out well, some don't, but I learn something from all of them!

Online Card Class--Watercolor Day 3 Watercolor Pencils
I didn't get a chance to watch the Day 2 videos until last night, so didn't do any water coloring yesterday. Today, the Day 3 videos were available, so I watched them this morning. As I had just received my Derwent Inktense ink pencils, I was eager to try them out, so I skipped the pan water colors for today. I'll be trying some of the techniques out for that tomorrow.
I had this idea to emboss some watercolor paper with a butterfly folder I had on hand by Darice, and then color in the design with the pencils before spritzing it with a light mist of water.
As it turned out, some of the colors bled into the background a little, and I had to use a brush to aid in the blending I had imagined.
I also wasn't happy with the blending on the largest butterfly, so I added a little more color and used water on a brush to blend it. All in all, after it dried I liked how it turned out.
I stamped a Thinking of You Sentiment from My Sentiments Exactly in Hero Arts Pool ink in the upper corner, matted it on avocado green card stock, and used foam tape to attach it to a cream colored card base.
It was pretty obvious to me that I need to practice quite a bit on my coloring with the pencils, as I don't seem to be using consistent pressure, causing some places to be darker than others.
I'll be doing some Day 2 cards with pan watercolors shortly, and probably some more watercolor pencil cards.

Sunday Afternoon
Today I decided to spend a couple of hours making a set of cards with a new stamp/die set I just bought. It is called Joe To Go by Taylored Expressions. When I ran across it online, I thought it was a cute set, and it was made in the USA, which was a plus. I had some Christmas money left, and it was burning a hole in my pocket, so I ordered it! I wanted to make something when it arrived Saturday, but already had plans, but knew Sunday afternoon would be perfect for making a card.
I thought it would be nice to use it for something that would work for Valentine's Day, but wouldn't be limited to just that. I decided the coffee cup, with the heart accent, would be perfect. After stamping and die-cutting the cup, I colored the wrap area with a R29 Copic. I then stamped and die-cut a lid from red card stock, and die-cut a wrap from brown card stock. I glued the cup/lid/wrap together, and thought it looked pretty good.
I decided to use one of the sentiments from the set, stamped it on white card stock and matted it with the same red I used for the lid. I added the leftover heart from cutting out the wrap for a little accent on the sentiment, attaching with a pop dot for dimension.
I made a card base from the brown card stock, layered with red card stock and added a white embossed layer (Darice Beach Waves) which I thought looked a little like steam when turned sideways, attached the cup with a pop dot, and was done with the front.
Inside, I just added white card stock to write on,
and added a red heart to accent it.

Holiday Card Workshop, Day 3
I liked the concept of the card designed by Shari Carroll, but didn't have the supplies she used. So I improvised a little.
Instead of using a die to round off the bottom of the overlay, I used a plate, pencil and scissors. I also didn't have a dotted line stamp, so substituted another strip of designer paper. I did have a dotted embossing folder, but decided to use it on only half the card front, leaving the other half of the front smooth for my stamp. I popped the overlay, and also popped the stars, which doesn't really show in the photo, but I think it adds a little pizazz to the card in real life!

The designer
paper is from DCWV Winter Wonder Stack, the green star paper and white background card stock is from Michael's, I think, and the card base was Pure Luxury In the Navy
from GinaK Designs.
The
stamp isn't marked, so I'm not sure where it's from, but it's stamped
with Momento Paris Dusk. The star punch is from Marvy Uchida. The
embossing folder is Dotted Swiss by Cuttlebug.
The inside sentiment is from Stampabilities, and is also stamped with Momento Paris Dusk.

Holiday Card Workshop Day 1, Part 2
Had a little time this afternoon and made another card from the lessons from the online class. This one uses washi tape to define the sentiment. Inside, a gift card envelope also uses the washi tape from the front to pull it all together.
I used a Darice embossing folder, and the stamps were from Hero Arts. They were stamped with Black Tuxedo ink from Momento.
The house was colored with Copics, and a little Frosted Lace Stickles was added to the snow to give it sparkle. It was attached with Popdots to lift it off the front of the card.
I really liked how this card turned out. It looks so much better in person, the photo just doesn't do it justice!

Clean and Simple 2 Online Card Class Day 2
Tried a couple of new techniques when I made this one layer card--I masked before stamping, and then embossed the hearts. It's not perfect, but I think it was a good first try! Very pleased with this idea.

Clean and Simple 2 Online Card Class Day 1
On the first day of class we learned several new techniques. This is my first attempt to make a card similar to one of their examples. I embossed the sentiment in white, and bracketed it with cardstock I embossed. I really like how the card front turned out. It looks better in person.
But the inside I'm not sure I like. I used Brilliance in Lightning Black. I liked it a lot before it dried, but after it dried, was more of a dark gold instead of a black on the blue background. I was hoping for a shiny black with gold highlights. Oh, well, live and learn!
